      Thank you for the idea.
Have you considered using the simple drag and drop action in the Plan and Prioritize part of the TeamCompanion for bulk changing the iteration path for the work items.
See more about the drag and drop support here: http://www.teamcompanion.com/features/agile_project_management_12/#156
      Thanks,

We have been having configurable formats for different work items and work item types on our backlog for some time now. As of this moment we haven’t committed to support it in any specific future release, but we will definitely support it in time.

Please wait until our next release. There will be developments related to this topic.

You are right that, as far as the notifications are concerned, TeamCompanion makes a fixed set of predefined notifications available.
If you want to configure additional types of notifications you can use TFS Power Tools (http://bit.ly/1rQDjw3 , for TFS 2010) or native TFS web UI (http://bit.ly/1iMdEQi, TFS 2012 and newer).

The main issue with notifications is that they are yet another source of email. With TeamCompanion and scheduled auto-refreshed work item queries these is less need for notification subscriptions especially those related to changes in work items. Define the scope of work items you are interested in using a work item query and set the query execution schedule and you will be notified about the changes to the work items from that query in the most efficient and least intrusive way. Read more in this blog post (http://bit.ly/1gNXOGv).

As always, we are eager to hear your opinion.

          Thanks,
          Ognjen

            Hi Dave,
thank you for the suggestion. It makes sense and we will add it to the backlog.
Would you make it obligatory or as an option of the Create work item from mail action (additional checkbox in the appropriate dialog)? If yes, what would be the default behavior in your opinion?
Have you tried our Done email feature? It serves the same purpose like your suggestion, the only difference is that it is meant to be used once the work on a work item is done instead of at the beginning which is what your suggestion is for. Check it here: http://www.teamcompanion.com/features/working_with_work_items_6/#62
            Thanks again,
            Ognjen

Thank you for the suggestion. It would indeed extend the current implementation of the “Send email” action in a natural way.
At the moment we are investigating the technical feasibility of different ways to support it.
The main problem is how to map the value from the work item fields that you mention (which is just the name of the person) with the appropriate email address of that person (which isn’t readily available in TFS by default).

              Regards,
              Ognjen Bajic

Agreed. We will discuss this further in the team, but I believe that we can do that. Expect this added in one of the upcoming releases.
              Kind regards,

I am not quite sure that I understand your suggestion. You write „When creating work items from an email I currently manually append ... to the subject line“. To the email’s subject line? What do you do with that email? Do you just edit the email you received and used as a basis for the work item? Could you please elaborate?
                Thanks,
                Ognjen

I am trying to understand why would you need test cases on the backlog? To manage the task of building the test cases? You could do that with task work items, couldn’t you?

We are working hard to make all the grids and complete UI as fast as possible. Expect visible improvements in the next version.

                      Thanks for suggesting this.
This is nice extension of the existing feature. I have added this to the backlog and we will implement this in one of upcoming versions.
What other macros beside WI ID (which should create a link to web access, I presume) would you like to have there?
                      Thanks,
                      Ognjen

                        Tiago,

Currently you can get the list but there is no way to customize the rest of the email. You are right that we should do something about this.

Btw. it has been possible to customize the format of the generated table since version 2.0 or even earlier. See this blog entry: http://www.ekobit.com/blog/archive/2008/07/16/customize-emails-created-from-work-items.aspx
I have added this suggestion to our backlog and we will implement it in one of upcoming versions.
                        Thanks,
                        Ognjen
