I suggest you ...

Allow users to customize the alerts they want to subsribe to.

Currently in 'Alert Subscriptions' area, the Alert column is pre-defined with some alerts. We would like to see more options in there such as when a work items goes from Resolved to Active or from Quality Review to Resolve state etc.

You are right that, as far as the notifications are concerned, TeamCompanion makes a fixed set of predefined notifications available.
If you want to configure additional types of notifications you can use TFS Power Tools (http://bit.ly/1rQDjw3 , for TFS 2010) or native TFS web UI (http://bit.ly/1iMdEQi, TFS 2012 and newer).

The main issue with notifications is that they are yet another source of email. With TeamCompanion and scheduled auto-refreshed work item queries these is less need for notification subscriptions especially those related to changes in work items. Define the scope of work items you are interested in using a work item query and set the query execution schedule and you will be notified about the changes to the work items from that query in the most efficient and least intrusive way. Read more in this blog post (http://bit.ly/1gNXOGv).

As always, we are eager to hear your opinion.

        Thanks,

I was wondering the same thing. I think you can make custom alert subscriptions with TFS 2012 (or is it 2013?). When I read the product's features, I was thrilled when I saw "custom TeamCompanion events.".

At first I thought we could make custom events subscriptions, but what I understand from it is that they have their own events, but not necessarily customizable... Correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Nonetheless, you can still install an earlier version of TFS and make your own alert subscriptions.
