Put the Team Companion in it's own Outlook accordion tab instead of under "Mail"
Currently you have the TeamCompanion tree view under the "Mail" tab in the left hand navigation of Outlook. It is a bit buried under all my other mail folders. It would be great to make your functionality a "first class citizen" in Outlook by adding a tab just for "TeamCompanion". Clicking on that tab would show just your tree view, instead of combined with Mail. And the top menu would focus on the TeamCompanion tab. This would make it much easier to use. This would also enable opening that view in its own Outlook window so you have a distinct… more

Allow work item navigation by Iteration Path or Product Path
The "TFS Work Item Manager" product (Telerik) has this feature and I find it invaluable. It would be great to have it in your product as well so I can use your product exclusively... In Outlook mail you can click on a folder and it automatically displays the folder contents... Similarly, it would be good to have an Iteration/Product Path tree and when you click on a node in the tree you see the work items associated with that node. That way you don't need to set up a million queries to be able to see each individual node, and… more

Thank you for this suggestion. Have you tried our Plan and prioritize feature? I agree that it isn’t the general purpose querying/filtering mechanism, but we do support filtering over areas and iterations (and various other filtering options). See:http://www.teamcompanion.com/features/agile_project_management_12/#148 for filtering options and how iterations pane (http://www.teamcompanion.com/features/agile_project_management_12/#151) and area pane (http://www.teamcompanion.com/features/agile_project_management_12/#152).
To what extent do these features cover what you are looking for? -
Support using and editing work item templates like in Team Explorer
In Visual Studio 2010 / Team Explorer, I can define work item templates so certain feilds are pre-populated (i.e. Product path for a particular feature, iteration path for "Backlog"). I like using TeamCompanion to create work items but I want to use the templates I have defined in Visual Studio. The work item templates are stored locally on my machine and there is configuration in Visual Studio that specifies where they are. Team Companion could look at that value to find the templates and use them when creating work items. It would be good to have the templates in the… more

include unassigned hours in the burndown chart
When calculating the burndown (remaining hours, ideal trend), also unassigned hours should be taken into account. Currently the chart seems to be generated only from tasks which are assigned to someone.
In an ideal Scrum team, task assignment is done "late" in a daily scrum - not up front in the planning.

add support for hierarchies when sending query results in a mail
When right-clicking a "hierachical query" or "wi with links" query and using "Send query results by mail", currently the hierarchy gets lost (same in VS built inn functionality). It would be nice and an outstanding feature to somehow visualize the hierarchy e,g, by indenting child items

Add filter for resolved Bugs
We are using User Stories, Bugs and Issues as top level items. We add tasks to them to measure the time on each top item. But when a bug is resolved it would be nice to be able to filter it out the view. A new other setting "Show only active top items" would help.

Automatically Add Work Item Number to Email Subject/Body
When creating work items from an email I currently manually append:
- TFS ####
to the subject line and
Logged in TFS as ####
so developers can quickly find an issue I have logged with them.
It would be nice if TeamCompanion could automatically add these and other fields once a work item is saved.

Conditional Formatting for Views
In a previous version you had it already so that a user could create rules and formats for conditional formatting for each view.
This helped a lot to differenciate visually between work item types, work item states, user def field values etc.
Unfortunately the function was removed but hopefully it comes back.3 votesplanned ·

Mark a certain Work Item as read in all Queries with one click
Unlike the behavior of the regular search folder of Outlook a work item has to be selected in every querywhere it appears to mark it as read.
E.g. you have a query showing Active Work Items and another one showing only My Active Work Items.
If I get a new Work Item, both queries show me a new entry by a bold query name and a number.
But I have to open both queries and select the item two times to reset that indication.
Would be nice if a query would notice the change on a certain Work Item even… more3 votesplanned ·

It would be nice to have different work item types coloured differently.
Colouring each work item type with different colour would be very helpful to improve overall user experience when handling lots of work items.

We have been having configurable formats for different work items and work item types on our backlog for some time now. As of this moment we haven’t committed to support it in any specific future release, but we will definitely support it in time.

Including a QR Code in the "Send as E-Mail" Feature for Work Items
I would love to have a QR code be right-aligned in the white space at the top of the e-mail.
The QR Code would encode the URL for the work item link to Team Web Access so a mobile user could open it up by using any number of QR Code Readers. This is more for scenarios where someone has printed out e-mails that came from TeamCompanion (i.e. user story details for a daily standup). They could then use their mobile device or tablet that has a camera to snap the QR Code and immediately go to Team Web Access.

Plan & prioritize grid to show different kinds of linked workitems, i.e. test cases
We use user stories to describe what needs to be done. For each test case we write few test cases. It is natural to have tested by-tests relationship between stories and test cases but we have to use parent-child relationship to get them displayed in the grid.
The idea would be to enable support for displaying hierarchy for different kinds of links, not just parent-child.

Persist view state for grouped items between folder switches
If you use the grouping function for a work item view and collapse groups, all are expanded again when you change to another folder and get back to the query

"Copy Work Item Shortcut" Option on Context Menu for Work Item Form
When you open a work item form in Visual Studio Team Explorer, you get a nice option on the context menu to "Copy Work Item Shortcut." This allows you to copy the full Team Web Access URL of the work item to the clipboard so you can use it in other applications (including Outlook).

Thanks for the suggestion. I have added it to our backlog and we will implement it in one of our upcoming releases.
Until we implement this, you can use the „Copy Work Item URL“ action from the context menu for the work item query result grid.
Thanks,

We are currently analyzing different options how to handle values that don’t fit in the available space in the grid cell. In addition to supporting multiline display within a cell, we are considering just showing three dots at the end of the text to signal that there is more than is visible, additionally providing tooltip with the complete value. We have some other ideas as well.
Any further suggestions on how to handle long texts are very welcome. -
Order the list of work items in Go To Workitem by usage order
The dropdown of the Go to work item should have the entered ordered by last usage instead of numeric order.
last recently used makes more sense than numeric order

When a WI is created from an email automatically send a reply acknowledging the fact
When we create a WI from an email, automatically send an email to the sender acknowledging the fact that the email has been "accepted". The content of the email should be configurable and allow the use of macros.
For example the WI ID
The email could be sent or not on a WI by WI basis, by having a checkbox on the create WI window
